Grounding

An exploration of tundra textures, coastal camouflage, and nuance underfoot. The inspiration for these paintings span from Southeast Alaska to the Northwest Arctic.

I spend a lot of time looking at the ground - observing seasons shift, admiring nature’s patterns and paths, and appreciating the life underfoot that literally supports and sustains us. In the summer of 2021 I didn’t just “stop to smell the flowers,” I paused to engage with groundcover using all of my senses, including my paint brush.
